QinetiQ provides research, technical advice, technology solutions and services to customers in its core markets of Defence, Security and Energy & Environment. Within QinetiQ, System Delivery Services (SDS) Division conduct a major capital investment programme in support of the UK military test and eveluation facilities for the Ministry of Defence under a Long Term Partnering Agreement (LTPA). QinetiQ needed to implement a high degree of visibility, control and consistency within the programme – which is where CMMI® came into play. Over a 2½ year period from Jan 2006 to Sep 2008, SDS achieved CMMI® Level 3, the net effect of which has been to significantly refine the SDS operation and substantially increase business performance.
